teaching Philosophy

“To play a wrong note is insignificant; to play without passion is inexcusable.”

Ludwig van Beethoven

It is my firm belief that music education is, and should be, an integral part of a well-rounded education for everyone. I strive to help all my students to reach their full potential and attain a high standard of musicianship through discipline, hard work, and most important of all, enthusiasm and passion for music. I encourage all my students to attend live concerts when they can and listen to other instruments to expand their sound palette. Music surrounds us, and at times, the most memorable lessons are learned outside of the practice room. All students are expected to practice daily and receive their lesson every week. Students may be asked to increase the frequency of lessons as needed when they are preparing for practical examination or competition. Music theory, ear training, and sight-reading skills are important skills that will be incorporated within the lessons as early as the preparatory levels.
